Emergence

With creepy ambient music in the background and a minimalistic voice-over, you can take a tour of the creatures which have been evolved online by people who have run the Intelligent Design version of the software. The shapes as well as the behavior of these critters were evolved, and the final segment is of a surprising body which evolved bipedal motion without a sense of balance.

Asymmetry

Always interested in a weird experiment, this video shows what happens when there is no symmetry imposed on the evolving body. The critters here are deeply weird, and you might not see them in your garden, but the important thing is that even without symmetry they learn how to get moving.

Darwin at Home in 10 Minutes

This was the first collections of video segments of bodies that were built by hand in the Build-Evolve version of the software, and evolved to run like crazy. They exist in a large variety of different sets of physics parameters and they always prevail in one way or another, given enough generations of evolution.

Presentation of Project Tensegrity - 45 min

This is a video of my presentation of the latest geometrical project called "tensegrity" at the office of Studio Acht Architecten in Rotterdam. The audience was a diverse group of colleagues and friends of the architects, including architects, structural engineers, project developers etc.

Demonstration at BNAIC 2006 - 25 min

In this video I present the Intelligent Design version of the software for the first time to the academics gathered at the BNAIC 2006 conference in Belgium.

I was asked to give a presentation at the DECOI 2006 workshop held in Amsterdam, but I was unable to be present, so instead we made a fairly lengthy video presentation explaining the project, its history and motivations.
